April R. Bell is a proud native of Opelousas, Louisiana where she graduated from Opelousas High School. In 2010 April moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to attend Southern University and A&M College where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services and in 2017 obtained a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling.

April’s career began with providing Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling and Assistive
Technology services to children, adolescents and young and older adults with different abilities in settings such as home based services, schools, nursing home and assisted living facilities and more. She later transitioned to the school setting to aid students by providing career counseling, coordinating 504 services/accommodations and aiding students with transition and their emotional needs. While continuing to work with and be an advocate for pre-teen and teen mental health, April also facilitated group and individual sessions within a psychiatric hospital in the Baton Rouge area.

Currently, April provides individual and group counseling to pre-teens, teens and adults. April believes every person has their own story that contributes to what they are currently experiencing. She intends to provide a safe space for that story to be told and for individuals to gain a greater understanding and appreciation for themselves. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss and other life experiences or emotional concerns, April is here to help you move towards a new and fulfilling present.

April enjoys dancing in her spare time, is a huge Michael Jackson fan and enjoys spending time with her husband, family and her dog Arthur. Dancing has been a major form of expression for April since the age of 3. While attending Southern University, April was a four year member of The Southern University Fabulous Dancing Dolls where she served as captain in 2013. Through the years, April continues to mentor and coach dancers of all ages. April is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
