Therapist
Damian Matt is a dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor with extensive experience supporting individuals through a wide range of mental health challenges. She has worked in various settings, including private practice, community mental health centers, and non-profit organizations.
Damian specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, low self-esteem, and dissociation. She employs a variety of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, Filial Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Her primary goal is to empower clients to create meaningful change and enhance their overall well-being. With a strong passion for trauma work, Damian fosters a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients can learn to manage symptoms and build resilience.
Damian’s path to counseling was inspired by her desire to help family members facing mental health struggles. This personal motivation evolved into a lifelong commitment to helping others heal and grow. She has contributed to the Lafayette Parish Pre-Trial Diversion Program, served on the St. Landry Parish Human Trafficking Board, and currently acts as a group director at the Healing House, where she supports families coping with grief.
Outside of her professional life, Damian enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two sons, horseback riding, and walking her two dogs.
